If you are passionate about women and girls’ rights and care deeply about living in harmony with nature, then consider TARA your home away from home in the Himalayas.
TARA (Training And Research Academy) is the first feminist and eco-friendly retreat and training centre in India. Nestled in the spectacularly beautiful foothills of the Dhauladhar Mountains in Himachal Pradesh with its attractive new facilities, TARA is a peaceful place for group retreats, workshops, trainings, research, and tours, as well as solo stays.
Come to TARA for a retreat or training filled with inspiration, purpose and pleasure. While here, you can relax and enjoy the area’s fascinating natural and cultural bounty, including Hindu and Tibetan Buddhist temples, art galleries, hiking trails, bird watching, organic gardening, nearby Dharamsala and McLeod Ganj, and more. You can also participate in gender justice and sustainable development related fieldwork. Your experience can be tailored to your interests.
TARA is part of Jagori Rural Charitable Trust (JRCT), a rural registered nonprofit organization respected for its community-based work with women’s and youth collectives, farmers' groups, and school children in 80 local villages to promote justice, dignity and peace, as well as agricultural practices in harmony with nature.
We are located in Sidhbari, in the Kangra District of Himachal Pradesh, in northern India, approximately 9 km (6 miles) south of Dharamsala.
