Two week Hindi Gender training course

Jagori Rural and SANGAT ,  are oragnising seventh  South Asian, two week training course in Hindi/Urdu on “Gender, Human Rights, Just Governance, Sustainable Development and Women’s Empowerment”  from 25 May – 7 June 2018 at the Training and Research Academy (TARA), Sidhbari, Tehsil Dharamshala, Kangra district, Himachal Pradesh, India.

The main objectives of this course is to strengthen the capacity of the staff of various NGOs, Human Rights and Women’s rights groups and other civil society organizations and individuals and develop a feminist perspective on a range of issues related to Gender equality, justice, governance, rural development and reconstruction, rights and entitlements with a special focus on Women’s rights and entitlements.

Main topics and themes to be covered
Conceptual understanding of  the construction of gender, patriarchy and other systems of domination, Violence against women, legal framework for protecting women’s human rights, right to health, bodily safety and sexuality, globalization, fundamentalism, just governance grassroots
mobilization, feminism and women’s movement .

Resource persons
Kamla Bhasin and Abha Bhaiya will be the joint coordinators of the course.  In addition other experienced and well known resource persons will be invited for specific themes and topics.

Story telling session with primary school children (On-going)

In this era of globalization, children are losing interest in reading books and getting involved in electronic gadgets which has made them very limited and they are not able to come up with creative or innovative ideas. Keeping this thing in mind mobile libraries has been set up in 20 primary schools of Rait and Dharamshala block to enhance their reading skills.

Body literacy session with high school children (On-going)

These sessions are conducted with High School students to break the myths related to bodily changes during adolescent age.

Health awareness camp for boys (10 June 2014)

To make boys aware about their poor health standard and organize Hemoglobin test check-up camp for them.

One day follow up meeting with thirty SS members (14 June 2014)

To see the impact of previous workshops and to develop a forum for youth to discuss their issues. This one day meeting will be organised with 30 youth Members from 14 youth collectives of Shahpur and Dharamshala Block.
